Greece

After coming off the plane from the US of A, we exited the airport without a clue about what we were doing. With no worries, we hopped on the 2nd bus we saw which luckily (and for free) took us exactly were we needed to be - to the center of Athens - the Plaka district. So our adventure begins....the fabulous drachma, scary Jesus paintings, Greek accordion music, mousaka, retsina, gardens, temples, ferry rides, vineyards, beaches, and shadow puppets on centuries old monuments certainly won't be forgotten.

Watching the sunrise on the roof of our first hotel in Europe

We appreciated Athens for its random ruins that seem to pop up in the most peculiar places

The Acropolis was home to the Parthenon, which we managed to sneak into with a tour group. See a pattern?

Despina and her husband were incredibly kind and hospitable and let us stay in their nice home on the island of Naxos in the Cyclade islands. A gorgeous place.

She can really sell that bike. We rented that one for $6 for the ENTIRE day. Am I too money conscious?

Here is Leigh taking a rest on the edge of the volcanic island of Santorini. An island that had black volcanic beaches, beautiful white buildings and churches, and a fantastic 360 degree view of the sea.
