This was our first trip together down to the Caribbean. Punta Cana was the name of the resort town we stayed in and all inclusive food and drink was the name of the game. Although we ended up in the bathroom more than we care to remember, it was still for the most part a relaxing vacation. We witnessed a rooster fight, tasted various tropical fruits, took a ride outside the resort for eye opening differences in the way people live where mints weren't put on pillows, enjoyed aromatic DR cigars, lost competitive ping pong matches against grape smuggling speedo wearing Europeans, explored the nearby markets, and spent a tranquil amount of time under the palm trees with book in hand.
After getting some Dominican Republic Cigars, I decided a touristy picture in front of this fancy bus was a necessary thing to do.
A nice dinner on the beach made for a very enjoyable evening
She looks like such a natural riding a horse
This sugar cane field is worked hard by many Haitian and Dominican people who toil in the vicious heat for very little money. The economic gap that existed between the resort villas and what laid beyond the fenced in hotels and beaches was extremely wide. It was difficult to imagine such differences in people's lives where a square mile of land was shared, but depending on what side of the fence you were on meant experiencing an extreme variability in the quality of life.
